Lincoln was pleasantly surprised to see that its Corsair compact luxury crossover reached the highest sales within the brand’s lineup, so it quickly added a refreshed version of it in 2022, less than four years since the model’s unveiling.

Placed at the bottom of the Lincoln’s lineup, the compact luxury crossover Corsair was the kind of vehicle that many Americans were looking for. It was large enough to fit five adults inside but with a small enough footprint to be used as a daily driver vehicle. Furthermore, it offered all the features and amenities provided by its larger siblings, albeit without the three-row options. In addition, its fuel-efficient plug-in hybrid drivetrain saved a lot of money for its owners. These advantages led to good sales that peaked at almost 28,000 units in its best year. However, after the model’s introduction in 2019, the automaker understood that it would have to make some changes to make it more attractive to its buyers. As a result, in late 2022, the automaker unveiled the refreshed version of it.

Some of the most significant changes were at the front, where the automaker placed a broader grille adorned by black mesh with chromed or dark dots, depending on the grade. The swept-back headlights that flanked it featured wing-shaped LED daytime running lights that doubled as turn signal lamps. Below, on the wrapped-around plastic bumper, Lincoln added a chromed horizontal slat. Lower, on the apron, the automaker installed a trapezoidal air intake in the middle extended outwards by black or chromed trims, depending on the grade.

From its profile, there were no significant changes to the vehicle other than the new wheel options sized between 18- and 20 inches. Two exterior colors were available: Crystal Red and Whisper Blue, which are new to Lincoln. In addition, the Jet Appearance Package was still available, making the compact luxury crossover look sportier. At the back, the same LED taillights adorned the Corsair, featuring a red light stripe that ran across the tailgate underlining the Lincoln lettering.

However, Lincoln knew that its customers craved comfort and modern technologies, so it emptied its pockets inside the cabin. The dashboard received a broader, angular-shaped visor for the instrument panel, replacing the rounded one offered in the non-facelifted version. The 12.3-inch configurable display provided more information about the vehicle. In addition, a 13.2-inch touchscreen mounted in a free-floating position atop the center stack replaced the older eight-inch one. In addition, the automaker moved the start/stop button below the screen, next to those that controlled the gearbox. However, the most significant upgrade was the introduction of the Lincoln ActiveGlide 1.2 hands-free feature, which operated at speeds of up to 80 mph (129 kph). It allowed drivers to keep their hands off the wheel while keeping their eyes on the road on 130,000 miles (209,214 km) on selected highways.

Under the hood, the automaker ditched the previous 2.3-liter turbocharged powerhouse and kept only the 2.0-liter turbocharged engine. Lincoln paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission that sent the power to the front wheels or in all corners.
