    Vehicle Overview

In the summer of 2024, GMC introduced a refreshed version of the Yukon’s fifth generation, and the refreshed model came with significant exterior, interior, and technological updates.

GMC introduced the Yukon nameplate in its inventory in 1998 as an upscale vehicle to stand against the Lincoln Navigator. By 2020, this full-size SUV had reached its fifth generation. However, the world pandemic forced General Motors to postpone the market launch of this truck into the summer of 2020. Sales started to pick up, but there was still room for improvement. As a result, four years later, the automaker introduced the 2025 GMC Yukon as the brand’s flagship nameplate, with significant technological updates. And, like most facelifted vehicles, it came with a refreshed look, both on the exterior and the interior.

Regardless of the grade, the 2025 GMC Yukon came with restyled headlights. These featured C-shaped daytime running lights that doubled as turn signal lamps on the outer area and three LED blocks for the headlights. They flanked a massive grille that sported the GMC lettering in the middle. On the lower bumper area, depending on the grade and options, the automaker installed a wide air intake, red towing hooks (for the AT4 grade), a pair of round LED fog lamps, and a metallic rock-slider underneath the apron.

From its profile, there were basically no changes to the vehicle’s sizes. However, there were other noticeable upgrades for the tires. The base models came with up to 24-inch wheels, while the base version had a 20-inch set. In addition, the AT4 version featured standard A/T Goodyear tires. In addition, the 2025 GMC Yukon was available with a pneumatic suspension that could raise the ground clearance by about two inches (5 cm), improving the vehicle’s off-road capability. Out back, the automaker added new LED taillights that sported an L-shape with upper horizontal lights. Along with the facelift for the fifth generation of the Yukon, the automaker also offered a night vision package.

However, the interior was dramatically upgraded. On the center stack, the automaker installed a 16.8-inch, portrait-mode infotainment unit. It was based on the Google operating system and supported wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Furthermore, the automaker placed a set of physical buttons underneath it that controlled the HVAC. In addition, neatly integrated into the lower side of the display, GMC installed a physical volume knob. Fronting the steering wheel was a new instrument cluster filled with a wide, 11-inch screen as a driver’s information display. That could be customized to show maps, music, and other useful data about the vehicle’s status. The 2025 GMC Yukon was available with the SuperCruise option across the range, with tiny LEDs integrated into the upper side of the steering wheel. At the front, the automaker installed comfortable seats available with integrated JBL speakers into the headrests. On the second row, the Yukon offered a split-folding bench seat, while the third row could still accommodate full-grown adults.

Under the hood, there were no surprises. GMC offered the full-size SUV with a choice of two engines. Customers could get the Yukon with either a 6.2-liter V8 or a 3.0-liter, inline-six turbodiesel powerplant. Both were paired with a ten-speed automatic transmission that sent the power to the rear or in all corners. Buyers could also get the car with an adaptive suspension, which besides the possibility to increase the ground clearance, it also offered a more comfortable ride.
