Chevrolet had accelerated the development of the Silverado 1500 lineup, and in 2021 it unveiled a refreshed version of the 2019 model year introduced in late 2018.

While the most significant addition to the range was the ZR2 version, the rest of its stablemates were also enhanced. Thus, the automaker tried to keep the momentum gained with the Silverado lineup on the market, which was the automaker’s best-selling truck. Nevertheless, customers were also delighted to find new, improved interiors and fresh infotainment units in their vehicles.

Available in a few trim levels and cab versions, the Silverado 1500 was the light-duty truck that made the job done and customers happy. But styling was also important, so Chevrolet started with that. At the front, the 2022 model year came with an improved front fascia that featured a broad grille adorned with chromed horizontal slats, depending on the version. In addition, the wing-shaped DRLs were positioned lower than in the 2019 model year and featured dynamic lighting (LT trim level) when approaching and leaving the vehicle.

The cabin didn’t look like a work truck anymore and featured a 12.3″ TFT for the instrument panel with four user-selectable displays. Also, Chevrolet installed a 13.4″ touchscreen atop the center stack for the infotainment system. Another significant upgrade was for the safety system, which was enhanced with the Super Cruise feature that could even automatically change lanes when not trailering.

GM went all in when it made the 2022 Silverado and provided the truck with a wide engine range with four, six, and eight cylinders. The 3.0-liter Duramax turbo-diesel was one of the best-selling versions.
