2009 PEUGEOT 207 – 5 doors 1.4L 5MT FWD (75 HP)

Peugeot had to upgrade its cars to fit into the Euro 5 emission standards and introduced a facelifted version of the 207 lineup, and that obviously affected the five-door version as well as the three-doors and the SW.

The French carmaker was the market leader in the small segment in Europe in 2008 and managed to sell almost 1.5 million units of the 207 since the model’s launch in 2006. But Peugeot tried to keep that momentum, and with the facelifted version, it made the car even more attractive for its customers, enhancing the vehicle in all areas: look, interior, and powertrains.

Like its predecessor, the 2009 model sported the grille in the lower bumper area, albeit it had a reversed trapezoidal shape instead of the smiling from the 2006 model. It was flanked by two side scoops that hosted the fog lights, which were offered as an option for most versions or standard for the top trim levels. Its headlights were slightly redesigned and looked sharper than before. In the five-door version, the 207 was fitted with a blackened B-pillar to create the illusion of a three-door hatchback.

Inside, Peugeot installed new buttons on the center stack. Despite the similar overall design of the dashboard, the materials used in the 2009 model year were better and softer. Moreover, inside the instrument cluster, the carmaker encircled the dials with chromed rings instead of satin-gray ones as before. Also, for the sportier versions, the automaker offered white dials and red needles for the speedometer, tachometer, and gauges.

Under the hood, Peugeot installed upgraded Euro 5 engines, both gasoline, and turbo-diesel. In addition, the four-speed automatic gearbox from its predecessor was ditched, and a new, six-speed automatic was offered for selected versions.
