Honda reached its eighth generation on the North American continent and continued its journey of convincing customers with its qualities, which made it one of the best-selling mid-size sedans in the U.S.

The eighth generation of the North American version of the Accord was the largest yet. Furthermore, EPA considered it to be a large sedan due to the car’s interior dimensions. However, the exterior sizes dropped the vehicle into the mid-size category. With the eighth generation, the 2008 Honda Accord sedan tried to bend the rules and provided customers with a vehicle that was well-balanced between a sporty and a comfortable vehicle. In addition, the Japanese automaker was inspired by some features offered on the Acura, Honda’s premium brand.

For the eighth generation of the Accord, the Japanese automaker used the same platform as the European version of the vehicle. It had a front fascia that tried to look bold and daring. Its big rectangular headlights were swept back on the sides over the enlarged wheel fenders. Between them, the automaker put a broad grille adorned by body-colored trims on the lower two grades and chromed ones for the upper two. Below the bumper, on the apron, the 2008 Honda Accord sported a second air intake to help cool the engine, flanked by a pair of scoops for the available round fog lamps.

From its profile, the ascending beltline of the car created a dynamic image for the 2008 Honda Accord sedan. Its enlarged front fenders were continued on the sides by the sculptured doors. The automaker added body-colored mirrors and handles. The cab-rearward design of the vehicle’s greenhouse made the eighth generation of the Accord look like it was rear-wheel drive, even though it wasn’t. However, the automaker installed taillights on the corners at the back, flanking the trunk lid opening.

Inside, the squarish-looking dashboard integrated an eight-inch color display for the infotainment system. The large and comfortable front seats were mildly bolstered and separated by a center console that housed the automatic transmission gearbox, a couple of cup holders, and the buttons for the available heated seats. Fronting the driver was a clean-looking instrument panel with large dials for the speedometer and tachometer, flanked by gauges for the fuel level and water temperature. A power moonroof was also available. In the back, legroom was excellent, and it was fit for a large sedan.

Under the hood, Honda installed a choice of two engines, with a 2.4 or a 3.0-liter displacement. The former was an inline-four, while the latter was a V6. Customers could order the vehicle with a five-speed automatic transmission, while a six-speed manual was available for the least potent version. Like its predecessors, the eighth generation of the Accord featured independent suspension in all corners.
