The Ferrari 355 was the change from the straight lines of the ’80s toward the new, fluid lines that followed. It had the Pininfarina signature on the bodywork and a marvelous engine under the hood. But that wasn’t all.

The former F348 had to retire with its great V8 engine and something had to come and replace it. So here it comes the F355. For the Ferrari, that number meant something: it had a 3.5-liter engine and 5 valves per cylinder.

The exterior look was beautiful and compact. The short front trunk-lid was continued in an ascending line with the windshield, a short straight roof and then there was a descending panel toward the rear of the car. From the side, it looked like it was the rear side windows of the cabin, but the panels were outside the cabin. They were there only to enhance the lateral aerodynamic. Between the panels was the engine bay.

Inside, it had leather everywhere: seats, door panels, roof, center console, dashboard, and even behind the seats. It was one way to tell the owners why the price tag was that high.

On the center console, the F355 had the suspension setting. The F355 was the first Ferrari to had an adjustable suspension. It had a switch with to positions: off and Sport. The 6+1 pattern for the gearshift lever gate was crafted in metal and it was virtually impossible to miss a gear. That was a signature design that some other Ferrari with a manual transmission had it.
