The third generation of the Fiesta received an update in 1993, giving a bump to one of the best-selling Ford models in Europe.
With an increased appetite for small-sized, economical cars, the European customers turned their heads toward the Fiesta, which proved to be a reliable, affordable vehicle. Moreover, even though Ford was focused on the launch of the Mondeo range, it didn’t forget about the Fiesta and offered it with either three or five doors.
The carmaker made some styling updates for the Fiesta range, including the three-door version. Thus, the car received clear turn-signal lamps fitted with amber lightbulbs at the front. Moreover, in its quest to get a better fuel efficiency, the Ford design team also changed the front bumper was slimmer, and the foglamps were provided only as an option.
A significant improvement in the safety department was noticed inside, where the carmaker added an airbag for the driver, depending on the trim levels. Unfortunately, it didn’t provide an AC or a stereo for the base models, while the upper versions got sports seats.
Under the hood, the blue-oval brand installed a wide choice of engines. First of all, it provided fuel injection for the entire range. Moreover, the turbo-diesel version proved to be a highly fuel-efficient vehicle.
