    The Peugeot revealed in 2004 was designed to replace the old 406. The 407 came with a much more dynamic and seductive style.

    The front was completely renewed, giving a more aggressive look.

    The car gained weights and the new sedan become 4.676m long and 1.811 m wide, having a great balance on the road.

    The interior was completely redesigned with a new dashboard that was well-appointed.

    The driving position was good and offered great accessibility to the various, intuitively placed controls. The quality of the materials inside was increased, with plastics of a nice finish and pleasant to the eye.

    The 407 was overall a spacious car, even if the progress in terms of roominess was little.

    The base models were equipped with a power steering, multiple airbags, ESP and climate control.

    The 407 used the engines mounted on the 406 predecessor and came with one new option, the 1.6-liter HDi, a powerplant that developed 110 hp.

    For 2004, the 407 could be chosen with the AM6 automatic transmission developed by the Japanese Aisin Warner.

    One of the downsides of the 407’s weight gain was the compromised performance. Peugeot gave a top speed of 235 km/h for the sportier V6 engine that was reachable in 30.2, in comparison to the old 406 that only needed 28.6 seconds.
