    The Opel Performance Center (OPC) has revealed the latest Vectra OPC in 2005, also known as Vauxhall Vectra VXR in the UK or Holden Vectra in Australia. It was the sleeper of the mid-size sedan market. With its powerful V6 turbocharged engine, it could outrun a lot of cars on the streets. And the exterior look was not too flamboyant.

    In 2002, Opel launched the Vectra in Europe based on the global Epsilon platform. The engine was a joint-venture made within General Motors. The base was Australian, the twin-scroll turbocharger was from Opel and in the end, it produced 248 hp. It was more than enough to sprint the Vectra from 0 to 100 kph (62 mph) in 6.9 seconds for the manual transmission or 7.3 for the automatic gearbox. Both were 6-speed.

    Inside, there was a sporty interior, with aluminum pedals, aluminum gear-knob, Alcantara and leather nicely stitched with the blue color of the OPC. The bucket-seats for the front are meant to hold their occupants inside while hard cornering.

    The stiff suspension is adjustable and it reacts to the road surface so the car can handle better. The four-wheel independent suspension is helping in the same way. The Epsilon platform proved its worthiness in this OPC version, but mostly on the straight line.
