Using a Passat shortened platform, the Volkswagen Eos was a less expensive hardtop convertible compared to the luxurious competitors on the market.

While offering seating for 4 adults, the EOS featured a sophisticated retractable hardtop design and a sportier look than the other VW cars in the lineup. The retractable hardtop was designed by OASys and could be opened and closed in around 25 seconds.

Even if the EOS was available in three trim levels, the base model was well loaded as the customer did not have optionals to choose from.

The base model included 16-inch alloys, leatherette upholstery, air-conditioning, power windows and heated exterior mirrors.

The upper 2.0T trim levels added heated front seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, a trip computer and a power driver seats, while an extensive list of features became available.

The top-of-the-range featured a powerful 3.2-liter V76 engine that developed 250 hp. Other features included 17-inch alloy wheels, real leather upholstery, wood interior accents, rain-sensing wipers and an auto-dimming rear-view mirrors.

Other packages were available for the upper trim levels such as the Sport Package and the Technology Package, with features including bigger wheels, a tweaked suspension, a better audio system, parking sensors, as well as adaptive bi-xenon headlights.

While some users reported that they faced water leaks issues, the EOS was still a popular choice on the market.
