    Vehicle Overview

Lincoln introduced the luxury pickup Mark LT in 2005 for the 2006 model year and tried to make it more attractive with a facelifted version that appeared for the 2009 model year.

Making an upscale version of the Ford Expedition and rebadging it as the Lincoln Navigator did wonders for the American luxury brand. As a result, the blue-oval brand considered doing the same thing for the Ford F-150, and that’s how the Lincoln Mark LT was created. However, customers were not very fond of buying a more expensive vehicle with the same platform and marginally better features, so the Mark LT didn’t sell well. To add insult to injury, the world financial crisis that started in late 2007 damaged sales even more. Surprisingly, though, the Mark LT enjoyed great success in Mexico, so Ford withdrew it from the U.S. market and continued offering it there but upgraded.

One of the most significant visual changes to the 2009 Lincoln Mark LT was at the front. The automaker replaced the waterfall grille with a new one that followed its stablemates’ twin-wing design language. Between them, on the body-colored vertical slat, the automaker put its chromed narrow and vertical badge. Another noticeable upgrade was for the headlights, which were carried over from the F-150 SVT Raptor. The chromed trims continued on the bumper, like the non-refreshed version, but with round fog lamps instead of rectangular ones.

From its profile, the automaker added some additional upgrades for the 2009 Lincoln Mark LT. Besides the chromed decorations on the lower sides of the doors, the automaker also placed the model’s nameplate underneath them. To ease ingress and egress to the vehicle, Lincoln added fixed running boards under the rocker panels. Like its predecessor, the 2009 model year came with fixed chromed bars along the upper edges of the rear bed and an option for a removable cover.

Since the 2009 Lincoln Mark LT was based on the refreshed version of the Ford F-150, it had an improved dashboard. Its instrument cluster featured two large dials for the speedometer and tachometer that flanked a TFT display. Above it, the automaker placed the gauges for the oil pressure, coolant temperature, fuel level, and transmission oil temperature. The mix of leather, aluminum, and wood created a luxurious ambiance inside the vehicle. In addition, the automaker offered an option for an eight-inch touchscreen for the infotainment system, with available navigation. At the front, the large bucket seats provided excellent comfort for their occupants but little side support. In the back, the bench seat could accommodate three adults, with plenty of legroom and headroom.

At the sales start, the 2009 Lincoln Mark LT came with the previous 5.4-liter Triton engine as its predecessor. Later, the automaker used the 5.0-liter V8 Coyote powerhouse, which developed more power and improved fuel efficiency. Customers could get the vehicle with either an RWD or a 4×4 transmission. Another improvement over its predecessor was the 6R80 six-speed automatic gearbox that replaced the 4R75E four-speed one from the 2006 model year.
