Mercedes-Benz went wild with this potent version of the C63 AMG Black Series, offering a coupe with performances that could match some supercars from the same era.

The German automaker made several Black Series special versions for the SLK, CLK, and SLK, all with improved performance over their regular AMG siblings. Mercedes-Benz applied the same recipe to the C63 AMG when it made the Black Series version of it. The automaker made just 800 units of this, from which only 100 units were made for the North American market, split between the Canadian and the American customers. And if some considered that the C63 AMG looked wild, then this Black Series version went even further, screaming for attention from bystanders, and it was not for nothing.

At the front, the car stood apart from the crowd with its fat bumper and oversized lower grille in the apron flanked by massive scoops that cooled disc brakes. The main grille above the bumper was smaller, and the automaker adorned it with a single-slat chromed trim that supported the three-pointed star badge. The hood featured two longitudinal bulges and two vents between them, suggesting that there was a V-shaped engine underneath. From its profile, the C63 AMG Black Series boasted a set of winglets on the front bumper’s lower side and a set of vents behind the flared front fenders. The same treatment was noticed on the rear wheel arches, which were also wider than on the regular C-Class AMG and sported small air intakes on their front and rear lower area. Finally, at the back, the automaker placed a big wing on the trunk and two sets of rectangular twin exhausts on each side of the vehicle.

Inside, the car shared many parts with its C-Class Coupé sibling on the dashboard, such as the instrument cluster, the center console, and the turn signal stalks. Still, the high-bolstered bucket seats with integrated headrests covered in Alcantara were unique for this Black Series version. In addition, contrast red stitching was found on all panels, seats, and the three-spoke steering wheel. One of the most important differences compared to the regular C63 AMG was the lack of rear seats, although the automaker offered them as a no-cost option for customers.

However, the most significant difference compared to any other C63 AMG Coupé was found under the hood. There, the automaker dropped a 6.3-liter naturally aspirated V8 that sent 517 PS (510 hp) to the rear wheels via a standard AMG Speedshift 7-speed automatic (dual-clutch gearbox). The limited slip differential was also part of the package. It ensured that the car could grip better during high-speed cornering maneuvers. Unlike most other vehicles made by Mercedes-Benz, the C63 Coupé AMG Black Series wasn’t capped at 155 MPH (250 kph) and could reach 300 kph.
