Honda refreshed the ninth generation of the Accord for the 2016 model year, bringing up-to-date technologies inside the car and an improved exterior.

When Honda introduced the ninth generation of the Accord lineup in 2012, it surprised its customers with the car’s new look and improved performance despite showing smaller power outputs for some versions. However, one of the reasons why families bought the Accord Sedan and made it a sales champion for Honda was the resale value that was almost guaranteed thanks to the car’s legendary reliability. Between the moment of the launch and 2015, there were few things that changed in the car’s technologies, so the automaker rushed to introduce them. One was the Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, which were introduced in late 2014. And Honda was among the first to provide it on the facelifted 2016 Honda Accord.

Depending on the trim level, the car came fitted with either HID or LED headlights. The latter was just approved for road use in the North American continent, so Honda rushed to implement it. Furthermore, the car also got a new grille adorned with a fat chromed and V-shaped slat instead of the previous three-slat version. Furthermore, the lower bumper was redesigned, featuring a trapezoidal-shaped second air intake. That was flanked by a pair of horizontally placed LED fog lamps.

From its profile, the 2016 Honda Accord Sedan kept its original shape with the two ascending sculptured lines crossing the car front to back and adorning the doors. In addition, customers could notice the tiny little camera on the front passenger’s door mirror cap. As expected on a facelifted model, the vehicle’s overall shape remained the same, with a cab-forward design. At the back, the short and tall deck was available with a lip spoiler, depending on the version.

However, the car’s interior quickly seduced customers who loved technology. The Japanese automaker offered the 2016 Honda Accord Sedan with a standard infotainment unit featuring an eight-inch screen integrated into the upper area of the center stack that could be controlled via a rotary knob and a few other buttons. As an option, they could get the car with a touchscreen placed between the center vents from the center stack, but that addition came with a downside since it didn’t have a volume knob. Regardless of the grade, the car manufacturer offered the Honda Sensing package, which included numerous safety systems, including adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, and blind spot monitor.

Under the hood, the direct-injected 2.4-liter gasoline engine was still the most sought-after version of the car. That could be paired with either a six-speed manual or a second-generation CVT gearbox. In addition, a 3.5-liter V6 featuring cylinder deactivation mated with a six-speed automatic was also available and proved an impressive fuel efficiency for a mid-size sedan powered by a V6 powerplant.
