    Vehicle Overview

In late 2017, Honda unveiled the tenth generation of the Accord and surprised its customers again with a mid-size sedan that could rocket like a sports car and still comfortably carry its occupants on their daily commute.

When Honda made the tenth generation of the Accord, it didn’t take anything from the previous generation. Furthermore, it produced the entire lineup in Marysville, Ohio, including the hybrid version, which was previously built in Japan. The Japanese automaker also offered the car with standard Honda Sensing advanced safety systems, which could automatically keep the car in its lane or keep the distance from the vehicle in front of it. In addition, the design language was completely new. It morphed from looking like a friendly family sedan into a sports-oriented four-door vehicle. It could be both, depending on the grade.

Viewed from the front, the 2018 Honda Accord looked more aggressive than its predecessor. The grille was adorned by a thick chromed horizontal slat and was extended downwards into the bumper. It was flanked by standard LED headlights across the range, which was unusual even for some upscale vehicles. In the apron, the automaker added a pair of side scoops that housed a set of LED fog lamps that looked like horizontal bars.

Viewed from its sides, the 2018 Honda Accord unveiled a longer wheelbase and overall length than its predecessor. In addition, the low-slung greenhouse was sloped down towards the end, resembling a coupe. A crisp horizontal line made a visual connection between the headlights and the taillights, losing the ascending-shaped ones from the ninth generation of the Accord. Depending on the grade, the car came with wheels sized between 17 and 19 inches. At the back, the C-shaped taillights were extended from the quarter panels onto the trunk’s lid, where the reversing lights were placed.

Inside, customers found a roomier cabin than in the previous generation. Thanks to the re-arranged seat layout, legroom for rear passengers was increased by almost two inches (50 mm). Honda also mounted the front seats closer to one another, thus providing more hip and shoulder room. Fronting the driver was a seven-inch digital instrument panel that could be configured to show different parameters. In addition, a head-up display was available for specific grades. Base models came fitted with cloth upholstery, while leather seats were on the options list. In the back, the 60/40 split-folding bench seat provided enough room for two occupants, while the middle-seated one had limited legroom due to the center tunnel.

None of the previous generations of the Honda Accord (for the U.S. market) were available with a wide engine range, and the tenth iteration of the car was the same. There was a choice of three powerplants, with the 1.5-liter turbocharged unit being at the base of the food chain in terms of pricing. The 2.0-liter turbo unit that followed was a detuned version of the four-banger powerplant installed in the Civic Type R. For those looking for more comfort, refinement, and improved fuel efficiency, the automaker introduced a two-liter hybrid version. Depending on the engine version, the car could be fitted with either a six-speed manual, a CVT, or a ten-speed automatic gearbox.
