    Vehicle Overview

In 2018, Chevrolet introduced a facelift for the sixth generation of the Camaro, and the new version included some aesthetic improvements inspired by some of the pony car’s older models.

Chevrolet introduced the first generation of the Camaro in 1966 for the 1967 model year. Over six generations, the car became an icon for the pony car segment, along with the Ford Mustang and the Dodge Challenger. Furthermore, when fitted with the right engine, it was a legit muscle car that could show its taillights to many competitors on drag strips. The sixth generation appeared in 2015 for the 2016 model year, and GM enjoyed good sales for it. However, when customers started to move towards EVs and other fuel-efficient vehicles, those figures dropped significantly. As a result, in 2018, the automaker introduced the 2019 Chevrolet Camaro with an updated styling and other significant improvements inside the vehicle.

Thanks to the redesigned front fascia, it was easy to see the differences between the 2019 model year and its non-facelifted sibling. It featured a taller upper grille where the bow-tie badge took center stage. The bumper was body-colored or black, depending on the trim and options. Lower, on the apron, Chevrolet installed an additional air intake flanked by a pair of scoops featuring vertical, narrow air intakes. In addition, customers could choose a hood fitted with a power dome that gave the car a meaner stance.

While the front clip was easier to modify, the car’s profile was not. It featured slightly different front fenders adorned by a red, white, and blue badge. The base model was offered with 18-inch alloy wheels, while a set of 20-inch was available right from the base trim level, the LS Coupe. Since a car profile was challenging to change when facelifted, the 2019 Chevrolet Camaro featured the same sculptured door panels as its predecessor, which were followed by the enlarged rear quarter panels with their coke-bottle styling. However, at the back, Chevy’s pony car had new taillights that resembled those installed on the 1968 Camaro. Their chiseled LED dual lamps had red surroundings and clear center areas. At the back, starting with the second grade, the 1LT, the automaker offered a dual-mode performance exhaust with quad outlets as an option. At the same time, besides the ZL1, all other six grades had dual stainless-steel exhausts with polished tips.

Stepping inside the vehicle brought more joy to the Camaro’s customers. They found a standard seven-inch touchscreen infotainment system featuring Apple CarPlay and Android Auto for the LS, the 1LT, and the 2LT grades. At the same time, from the 3LT grade, all the others had an eight-inch touch-sensitive display. There was a choice of two cloth upholsteries for the front bucket seats with bolstered areas and the rear bench profiled for two passengers. In addition, the automaker offered a choice of five leather-covered chairs for the rest of the range, besides the ZL1 that came standard with Recaro high-bolstered bucket seats.

Under the hood, the automaker installed almost the same choice of two-liter inline-four, V6, and V8 engines. All versions were paired as standard with a six-speed manual gearbox. However, those looking for less engagement could choose an eight-speed automatic for versions fitted with the inline-four and the V6 powerhouses. At the same time, the 1SS, the 2SS, and the ZL1 were available with a ten-speed automatic box.
