    Vehicle Overview

In spring 2024, the German car manufacturer Mercedes-AMG introduced the refreshed version of the GT 63 S E Performance 4-Door Coupé as one of its fastest vehicles ever made.

This car belongs to a short list of vehicles whose names are so long that it takes more time to read them than it takes for them to go from 0 to 97 km/h (0-60 mph), and that time is 2.8 seconds. While it could compete against many supercars, it could also comfortably and luxuriously carry four people inside its cabin. Furthermore, it was a plug-in hybrid. However, instead of using electricity mainly to lower fuel consumption, it is used to enhance performance and raise torque figures to higher levels. The automaker introduced the refreshed version of the GT 4-Door Coupé in the spring of 2023, and people started to ask about this potent version, but the automaker left them waiting until the spring of 2024. It did that not because it wanted to thoroughly test the technical solutions and ensure buyers would get the best out of it.

Up front, the 2025 Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S E Performance 4-Door Coupé featured a redesigned front fascia compared to its non-facelifted sibling. It had a black grille adorned by twelve chromed vertical double slats and the massive three-pointed star badge placed in the middle. On the lower side of the bumper, the automaker installed a broad A-shaped air intake that helped to cool the engine and improve aerodynamics. That was flanked by functional slim vertical side scoops that channeled air around the bodywork to lower drag resistance. The new Multibeam LED headlights featured inner-mounted daytime running lights that pointed toward the vehicle’s center.

From its profile, there were no significant changes, although a trained eye could spot the 21-inch wheels, which exposed the carbo-ceramic brakes. On the front fenders, behind the wheel arches, the automaker placed the exhaust vents adorned by the Bi-Turbo badges, while the aerodynamically profiled side sills were black on their lower side. Moving on, the automaker used LEDs for the blinkers mounted inside the door mirrors, which sported a black color on their lower area, depending on the options. The four-door coupe vehicle featured a low-slung roof line with a raked windshield and a sloped rear window. At the same time, under the bumper, the automaker installed a large diffuser flanked by twin rectangular exhausts on each side, unlike its lesser-powered sibling, the GT 53, which had twin round ones. A flap on the rear bumper allowed customers to charge their vehicles on AC power outlets.

Inside the cabin, Mercedes-AMG installed a fully digital dashboard consisting of two screens covered by the same curved piece of glass. The one fronting the driver showed the instrument panel, while the one sitting atop the center stack was for the MBUX infotainment system. This also included AMG-specific functions and featured a standard Burmeister Surround Sound System. As an option, customers could get a 3D Surround System with Dolby Atmos for a superior listening experience. At the front, the standard bucket seats provided high-bolstered areas, while a set of AMG sports seats was available. In the back, the automaker placed two individual seats separated by a pair of cup holders.

But the real magic happened under the car’s skin. Up front was a bi-turbo 4.0-liter V8 featuring a hot-vee configuration, meaning that the turbochargers were installed between the two cylinder banks. This system allowed for shorter turbo-lag, which was also reduced thanks to the electric motor that powered the rear wheels. As a result, the 2025 GT 63 S E Performance 4-Door Coupé ICE provided 643 PS (630 hp). At the same time, the motor mounted on the rear axle added 204 PS (201 hp) for a total output of 843 PS (831 hp).
